Notes from the President

President: Patiemma Rubio

The Office of the President is responsible for providing overall leadership, oversight, and accountability for GPSA UCSD. It ensures that the duties delegated by Council to the Executive Committee are carried out effectively, and steps in to maintain continuity when other officers are absent or unable to fulfill their responsibilities. The office oversees records of expenditures under the President’s purview, including the General Discretionary Fund, monitors budget compliance, and reports financial matters as required. It also helps coordinate appointments to committees, supervises appointed officers under its authority, and compiles quarterly reports on the activities, accomplishments, and expenditures of elected and appointed officers for presentation to Council. In addition, the President serves as a key representative of graduate students by meeting regularly with campus leadership, including the Chancellor and senior student affairs administrators, to advocate for graduate student interests and maintain communication between GPSA UCSD and the university.
