GPSA Funding Resources

Each year, the GPSA allocates a variety of funds for graduate and professional student organizations and programs to use to support their communities. Generally, the GPSA supports events, activities, and student groups that are inclusive of all graduate and professional students. 

 

If you are interested in applying for funding for an event, please review the funding guidelines, funding application request, and reimbursement procedures and make sure you understand them before applying for funding. Failure to obey the guidelines can result in a loss of funding awarded by the GPSA.

 Finally, please note that all funds provided by the GPSA are reimbursement-based and therefore require submission of receipts and all other documentation pertinent to a funding request to be processed! 

Funding Process Overview

  1. Plan your event! 
  2. Submit a Funding Application Request for your event. Please submit your request at least 30 days prior to the event to avoid rejection due to insufficient timing. 
    • Your event must be reviewed at the Finance Committee meeting before it is reviewed by the GPSA Council of Representatives meeting for approval! 
  3. Show up at the next Finance Committee meeting and pitch your event. 
  4. If approved by the Finance Committee, show up at the next GPSA Council of Representatives meeting for final approval.
  5. If approved by the GPSA Council of Representatives, you can contact the Director of Engagement (it@gsa.ucsd.edu) and Chief of Staff (chief@gsa.ucsd.edu) to advertise your event! 
    • Please ask our Director of Engagement to add your event to the GPSA Events Calendar and to post on our social media platforms.
    • Please ask our Chief of Staff to forward your event information to the applicable GPSA mailing lists.
    • For all communications, please also CC the GPSA Vice President of Finance (vpfinance@gsa.ucsd.edu). 
  6. Host your awesome event, and don’t forget to maintain a sign-in sheet of all the graduate students that attended! 
    • Any large discrepancies between the projected and the true number of attendees to your event might result in a partial loss in funding subject to the review of the Finance Committee and the GPSA Fund Manager (Anna Dickson at the Student Business Office). 
  7. Document your event.
  8. Submit original receipts, reimbursement form, along with a copy of your approved bill no later than 14 days after the event to the GPSA Vice President of Finance and the GPSA Fund Manager, Anna Dickson, at the Student Business Office on the 3rd Floor of Price Center for reimbursement.
